As part of a new economic plan, Nepal’s government plans to launch a digital nomad visa within a year. The visa will be multiple-entry and valid for up to five years, with one-year residence permits renewable annually.

This move positions Kathmandu and other scenic regions of Nepal as up-and-coming hubs for long-term remote workers seeking both adventure and affordability.

Other perks include the ability to open foreign currency accounts, purchase vehicles, and transfer funds abroad if balances exceed $50,000.

Digital nomads who stay in Nepal for 183 days or more will be subject to a one-time 5% tax on their foreign income.
