Battle of the Health Insurers: SafetyWing vs. Genki

If you’re a digital nomad shopping for health insurance, two of the top names in 2025 are SafetyWing and Genki. Both offer global coverage, but they cater to slightly different needs.

SafetyWing is often cheaper (starting at $56/month) and includes perks like travel disruption coverage. However, it offers limited sports coverage unless you pay extra, and some users report a frustrating claims process.

Genki, on the other hand, provides more robust medical coverage, especially for adventure sports, mental health, dental, and vision. It costs a bit more (starting at $71/month), but customer reviews highlight better support and smoother claims.

The process to obtain Spain’s digital nomad visa, for example, is infamous for its complexity. Many applicants resort to local lawyers or services like Anchorless to navigate the bureaucracy.

Other countries have taken a different approach, with easy online applications, low minimum income requirements, and little paperwork.

Check out these ten digital nomad visas that you can obtain with no hassle.
