Southwest Airlines Ends 'Bags Fly Free' Policy

Last week, the airline announced that its longtime “Bags Fly Free” program, which includes up to two free checked bags for all paseengers, will end on May 28. (Southwest hasn’t revealed the news fees yet, but we’ll keep you posted.)

Like other airlines, Southwest will limit complimentary checked luggage to specific customers. A-List Preferred Members of the Rapid Rewards frequent flyer program, as well as Rapid Rewards credit card holders, will still receive one free checked bag.

EU Delays ETIAS Implementation Until 2026

The launch of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), initially scheduled for 2024 and then rescheduled for mid-2025, has been postponed once again.

Starting sometime in late-2026, travelers from 60 visa-exempt countries, including the US, UK, and Canada, will be required to apply for entry before boarding flights to EU member countries. Applicants will need to complete an online form, pay a €7 fee, and receive approval before their trip. Once issued, the authorization will be valid for up to three years or until the traveler’s passport expires.
