Thailand Expands Digital Nomad Access

With stunning beachside co-working spaces, delicious street food fuel and cheap living, Thailand has long reigned as the capital of digital nomadism. Now, the country is launching a new program to bring even more nomads into the fold: the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

This game-changer for digital nomads offers a five-year, multiple-entry visa, allowing you to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per year.

• Long-term Flexibility: The five-year validity means you can plan your workcations around your schedule, returning to Thailand whenever the travel bug bites.

• Tax Advantages: As long as your income comes from a foreign employer, you won't be taxed on it in Thailand.

DTV vs. LTV

Note that the DTV is distinct from the existing 10-year Long Term Residents Visa (LTV), which carries much stricter income requirements (over $80K USD a year as of 2024).

Further Details

The official Thai government press release states that the visa will launch in late-June or July 2024. While exact details are forthcoming, expect requirements such as proof of income or funds.
