Last Minute Airfare Deals — February 2024

Back by popular demand, the Nomad Deals Airfare Report showcases the cheapest next-month flights from U.S. cities to digital nomad hotspots overseas.

On the U.S. to Latin America circuit, we include one-way, direct flights under $100. For Europe routes, the figure is under $200, while Asia flights are all under $500 and Afirca/Middle East are less than $600.

Be sure to check Skyscanner or your favored flight search engine for the latest updates, as fare prices and dates are constantly fluctuating. (If you are having trouble viewing the image below, check out the spreadsheet here.)

Key Findings

  • New York takes the prize for most appearances on the list, with nine cheap flights to popular nomad cities.

  • Although not shown on this list, Cancun tops the cheap destinations list with 11 flights from the U.S. under $100. Lots of super cheap airfare is also available to Guatemala City, San Salvador, and Guadalajara.

  • While airfare to Asia has skyrocketed since the start of the Ukraine war, Zipair is offering fares for under $300 to Tokyo from four West Coast cities. These incredibly low-priced flights underscore why Japan is a generational travel bargain.

Nomad Beach Destinations — Airbnb Pricing

When you tell people that you’re a “digital nomad,” they probably picture you sitting on a beach in the tropics while they freeze somewhere up north. But what they don’t realize is that paying for a winter Airbnb is hella expensive.

This chart ranks popular beach spots by both cost of living (food, transportation, etc.) and average monthly Airbnb expense. Data is taken from Numbeo, analytics firm AirDNA, and Nomad Deals calculations.

Of course, there is a wide range of Airbnb options in many of these cities. Phuket, for example, can cost well under $1,500 for a monthly Airbnb — or it can cost multiples of that, depending on location and amenities. But this ranking gives you an idea of which cities are relatively less expensive.

Keep in mind that destinations south of the equator are currently in their summer months, so plan accordingly.
