Where Airbnb Prices are Dropping

For the adventurous nomad, bargains can be found in these major cities

Normally, the words “Airbnb” and “price drop” rarely appear in the same sentence. For the 100+ nomad hotspots that we track, the average daily rate has risen 7% over the prior year.

This week, we reveal a handful of cities where short-term rental prices are trending down…if you can tolerate a bit of danger.

U.S. Passport Renewal (Finally) Goes Online

The Internet officially went online over 40 years ago. But you wouldn’t know it when it comes to U.S. passport renewal, which is still conducted by old-fashioned snail mail. But now, the government is relaunching online passport renewal.🙌

The new online portal, currently in beta testing for standard renewals only, means that you don’t need to mail-in your documents. Spots are limited and open daily on the official U.S. passport website at 1pm Eastern Time.

Airbnbs on Sale Now…but There’s a Catch

What if I told you that Airbnb prices are trending downward in several major cities?

Data from analytics service AirDNA shows that the average Airbnb daily rate has risen an average of 7% for the more than 100 nomad hotspots that we track. In Mexico, prices are up 10-17% across the board. Florianopolis, the increasingly popular Brazilian beach city known for its relative safety, has surged 30%.

But in a few locales, prices have actually decreased since 2023. The catch? A chance of war or economic crisis during your stay.
