5 Last-Minute Airbnbs in Latin America for July

Hopping on a plane? Check out these digital nomad apartments

Procrastinators, unite! (But let’s start tomorrow.)

As a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants traveler myself, I appreciate the benefits of spontaneously booking a new destination a few days (or hours) before I arrive. Yes, most high-rated Airbnbs for digital nomads will be booked months in advance, but sometimes you can snag last-minute deals and cancelations from other travelers.

If you’re still searching for a place to stay for the month of July, consider these five Airbnb apartments in Latin America.

Bogota, Colombia

  • Desk, chair, & computer monitor

  • Washer & dryer

  • Oven

  • Weekly cleaning

Having chilled here for six weeks, I can personally speak to the awesomeness of this Airbnb. The place is practically custom-made for digital nomads: big workspace with a second monitor, huge curved TV, full kitchen, and a space heater for cold days. Security guards are super nice guys, and the unit is surprisingly quiet. Weather in Bogota will be on the cooler side if you’re looking to escape the heat. Lima, Peru

  • Desk & chair

  • Washer & dryer

Need more of a budget option in a wealthy neighborhood? Then look no further than this property in Lima’s Miraflores district. No cushy office chair, but at least the chair has arms. Not much of a cooking space either, but who needs a kitchen when you’re in one of the world’s great food meccas? Weather will be on the cooler side (high/low of 67°/59° F).

Medellin, Colombia

  • Desk & chair

  • Washer

  • Rooftop pool

In this case, we’ll make an exception to the 4.8-or-above rating rule because yours truly can personally vouch for this apartment. The proper workspace, comfy bed, and working WiFi make this an ideal digital nomad spot. Blux Apartamentos contains many other short-term rentals and is short walk from Zona Rosa in El Poblado, one of the best areas to stay in Medellin. I myself booked this place last-minute, and now you can do the same.

Mexico City, Mexico

  • Desk & chair

  • Superhost

This apartment is located a short distance from the trendy La Condesa neighborhood. Yes, you can find nice digital nomad apartments closer to the action…but then again, you did wait until the last minute. Still, that price point isn’t so bad for a short-term rental in the nice CDMX neighborhoods these days. So far the apartment has a perfect rating, and it contains all of the nomad essentials for a long-terms stay.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

  • Desk & chair

  • Superhost

Rio might be on the cooler side (remember that it’s winter south of the equator), but is ever a bad time to go to Brazil’s best-known metropolis? This apartment in Copacabana will put you two blocks from the beach. Plus, it’s nomad-friendly with an ergonomic chair, desk, and equipped kitchen.

Methodology

The Airbnbs on this list were chosen based on several factors. Only listings rated 4.8 or higher within a 15-minute walk of major tourist areas were considered. Amenities important to digital nomads such as a proper workspace, kitchen, overnight guest policy, host communication, light/ambiance, and quietness were also prioritized.
