New Skies for U.S. Flyers
Flying (hopefully) just got a bit smoother for passengers thanks to new US airline regulations rolled out this month. Here's a quick rundown of what you can expect:
Automatic Refunds: If your flight is cancelled, significantly changed (delays exceeding 3 hours domestically or 6 hours internationally), or if your checked bags are waylaid for a long time, airlines are required to automatically issue you a full cash/card refund. They can't pressure you to take vouchers or travel credits, unless you prefer that form of compensation.
Faster Payouts: Refunds must be prompt, within 7 business days for credit card purchases and 20 days for other methods.
24/7 Customer Service: Airlines must now offer free and readily accessible customer service, both by phone and text chat.
